Welcome to the Advancement Department of PIU, home of The Tide, where exciting things happen every day!

Our committed staff seeks to discover and develop resources to move PIU forward towards the accomplishment of its vision. This includes locating financial resources, recruiting faculty and staff, motivating our alumni, communicating our vision, mission, programs and needs with the community, and serving as a catalyst and resource center for the local church.

Our team includes Billy Edwin, Phil Atoigue and Katherine Currie.

From its beginnings, PIU has operated with significant support from mission organizations, especially Liebenzell Mission International based in Germany. This has changed in recent years, and PIU no longer receives continuing financial support from LMI for either its operating or capital needs, although there does remain the continuing significant provision of some expatriate faculty and staff who serve here fully funded. These and missionaries from other mission organizations, along with the help of a large number of volunteers, serve alongside an equal number of dedicated local staff and faculty.

With this kind of support base, PIU has taken steps to expand its financial footing in order to continue to serve the students who come to its doors. A plan to secure funding from private sources has been developed. This plan focuses on two goals. The first goal is building a donor base to support an annual fund which we call the Rising Tide Annual Fund. The Rising Tide provides funds for operating expenses, scholarships for needy students, and building an endowment for funding local faculty and staff members. The second goal is financing capital projects through the writing of grants from private foundations and government sources by Katherine Currie, our foundation researcher and grant writer who lives in North Carolina.

Pray for us as you explore the pages here in the Advancement Department of our website. We believe God has many exciting things in store for PIU, and He may be leading you to become a part. Feel free to contact me or one of my departmental staff with fresh ideas, to introduce us to your friends, or simply chat. You will discover many ways to join The Tide!
